Our Story
Built From the Ground Up
High Level Auto and Diesel opened its doors in Lethbridge in 2025, founded by two guys who believe a great mechanic shop is built on four core values: honesty, integrity, customer service, and communication.
While we may be new to the block, the experience behind the wrench isn't. Mike brings over 20 years of hands-on mechanical experience — including a decade as a Red Seal certified mechanic — ensuring every repair is done with uncompromising integrity. Josh brings seven years in the auto and heavy-duty industry, driving the customer service and community-first attitude that keeps people coming back.
Whether we are handling gas vehicles, diesel vehicles, small engine repair, personal or fleet service, our commitment to honesty remains the same. We prioritize clear communication, meaning we will always explain exactly what we find, fix things right the first time, and stand firmly behind our work.

Mike Leflar
Co-Owner
Mike brings over 20 years of hands-on experience to the shop, including a decade as a certified Red Seal mechanic. His approach to the trade is driven by a commitment to uncompromising integrity and putting in the hard work behind the wrench. For Mike, it is about ensuring every repair is done right the first time so his neighbours never have to second-guess the safety and reliability of their vehicles.
That dedication to his customers stems from his deep roots in the area. Originally from Regina, Mike has proudly called Lethbridge home since he was 12, developing a lifelong appreciation for Southern Alberta and the hardworking people who live here. When he steps away from the bays, he trades the garage for the great outdoors. He is an avid fly fisherman who loves exploring the region's world-class rivers, but he is happiest when sharing weekend camping trips with Kennedy, his wife of 13 years. Whether they are enjoying the backcountry together or he is working under the hood, Mike's focus is always on doing things the right way and building a strong foundation in the community he loves.
Josh Johnston
Co-Owner
Building on a foundation of 15 years in the local sheet metal trade and seven years in the auto and heavy-duty industry, Josh brings over two decades of dedicated sales and customer service experience to High Level Auto and Diesel. His daily philosophy is simple: go the extra mile to make people happy and guarantee they receive the best service possible. As the driving force behind the shop's commitment to top-tier customer care and transparent communication, Josh ensures that every person who walks through the doors feels heard, valued, and completely confident in the care their vehicle receives.
Born and raised right here in Lethbridge, Josh is deeply connected to his hometown community and passionate about the hardworking people of Southern Alberta. When he isn't at the front desk taking care of customers, he makes the most of everything the region has to offer. An avid slo-pitch player, Josh loves spending his weekends out on the diamond or enjoying his downtime with his better half, Brittany. Whether he is talking engines or playing slo-pitch, Josh is all about building strong, genuine relationships in the city he is proud to call home.
